The Wai'anae High School (WHS) Teacher Leader Academy is for high school students students interested in becoming teachers. They come to Leihōkū twice a week to observe and assist teachers in Grades K and 1. Their duties may range from making copies to providing individual student support and small group instruction in number sense, letters, and sounds.
Both of our schools benefit from this experience--we have added support in our lower grades, which will help our students to build a strong foundation for success in the future, and this program also provides a way for the WHS students to gain experience in teaching and see what the profession entails. We are grateful to have this partnership with WHS!
