Grade 6 students visited Heʻeia fishpond on Monday and Tuesday. They had a walking tour of the pond and learned about sustainability and taking care of our ʻāina. They then got to help mālama the fishpond by picking up debris that had floated over with the tides, gathering the invasive mangrove tree seeds, and moving koʻa which will be used to rebuild and maintain the pond.
Did you know that most of the pōhaku that was used to rebuild the fishpond came from Waiʻanae?
