This week's FFV is pear! Did you know that pears were cultivated not only as food, but also as decoration? There is evidence that some pears were cultivated back in prehistoric times. Pears resemble apples, but one can tell it's a pear by the texture of its flesh--a pear's flesh is more gritty because of the stone cells it has that is absent in an apple's flesh.
