Here's your chance to show off your lei-making skills as well as spending some time with your child, passing down your knowledge and expertise about lei. We are having a lei contest! The winners of the lei contest will be announced at our May Day program next week Friday, May 12. There are five categories to choose from: Original, Traditional, Beautiful, Colorful, and Best Use of Recyclables. Turn them in on Thursday, May 11, for judging (rules and guidelines are below). You'll be able to see all the wonderful submissions when you come to our May Day program. Good luck!

Here are the rules and guidelines for the lei contest:
  1. Lei must be handmade by family. Student participation is highly encouraged.
  2. Participants need to designate the category they are entering (one category per lei).
  3. Participants may submit more than 1 lei; please submit separate entry forms for each lei.
  4. Materials used can be fresh flowers, ribbon, or recyclables.
  5. Lei should be 24 inches in length.
  6. All lei entries will be displayed during the May Day festivities on Friday, May 12, 2017.
  7. All lei entries may be retrieved by the families at the end of the May Day program from the display booth.
  8. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
  9. The first place winner in each category will be recognized at the May Day program.
  10. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, May 11, between 7:15 and 8:00am, to the library (late entries will be accepted, but not considered for judging).
