Our FFVP snack this week is papaya!

Papaya are grown all over the tropics, with the most coming from India (5.6 million tons a year, or 44% of the world's papaya production!). Ripe fruit can be eaten raw, while unripe fruit are often cooked in curries, salads, and stews. In Brazil, they use the unripe fruit to make candy! Did you know you can eat papaya seeds? They have a spicy taste and can sometimes be used as one would ground pepper. You can also eat the leaves, when steamed, like spinach, and use papaya juice to help tenderize meat.
