Sharing some sad news:  


This special plant on our campus was destroyed this weekend.  This lama tree was planted in 2019 (see picture below) as a gift to our Leihōkū kamaliʻi.  It was meant to be a legacy to assure that the keiki of today will be prepared for the future.  In old Hawaiʻi, lama was utilized in areas of learning.  Lama symbolizes the essence of enlightenment and was used to promote memory retention.  The wood was also used to build houses to cure the sick and for fencing of sacred areas.
