On Tuesday, November 10, and Thursday, November 12, the second graders visited the Hawaii Plantation Village.  They got to visit the different houses to see how different cultures on the plantation lived, such as the Chinese, the Puerto Rican, the Filipino, and the Japanese.  The students got to experience games that they used to play on the plantation--a game that we know today as POGs.  The students also got to dress up in the clothing that the different cultures wore.  It was a nice visual for the different cultures they are learning about in Social Studies.

Looking at the bed area in a home of Chinese plantation workers.  Our guide showed us the types of pillows they used (the three brown tube shapes in the picture).

Our guide is showing us the oven the Puerto Rican plantation workers used to bake bread.

Students follow along the path, seeing the homes of the different cultures that worked on the plantation.
