This week for our FFVP snack we have lychee!


Lychee is quite unique, being the only member of its genus. Almost always eaten as a dessert, lychee has many health benefits, including its ability to boost the immune system with its high levels of vitamin C, prevent cancer, improve digestion (lychee is high in fiber), build strong bones, lower blood pressure (it's a high source of potassium), improve circulation, aid in weight loss, and protect the skin. The Chinese even use lychee in their medication. However, be careful! Too much lychee consumption can cause unbalanced blood sugar levels and nutrient levels. Eating too many lychee can irritate membranes, cause bloody noses, fever, or sore throat. Keep your lychee snacking down to normal quantities, and you should be fine!
