Some of grade 5 went on a field trip to Spalding House today. The house was built in 1925 as a residence for Anna Rice Cooke, whose previous house was being converted into the current Honolulu Museum of Art. Her daughter, Alice Cooke Spalding, had the home redesigned and now it houses other works of art like her mother's former home. It was known as The Contemporary Museum from 1988-2011 while under the control of another missionary family; in 2011, it was reacquired by the Honolulu Museum of Art, and they exist as sister sites. Spalding House is home to over 3,000 contemporary art pieces which are displayed on a rotational basis.

The rest of grade 5 will go on Thursday and Friday.
