This week our FFVP snack was pineapple!

Pineapple and its juice are used in many cultures' cuisines. Pineapple is used in both savory (such as with ham) and sweet (such as fruit salad) dishes. Crushed pineapple is also popular in yogurt, jam, and ice cream. The juice is often used in cocktails, as well. Although widely associated with Hawai'i, pineapple production here has slowed down, with Dole stopping its cannery operations in 1991, Del Monte stopping their pineapple production in 2008, and Maui Pineapple Company cutting down the size of their operation to only provide pineapples to Maui. The Dole plantation only grows about 0.1% of all pineapple produced in the world.
